NECC 09: Opening Night

Opening Night Gala

The NECC conference in DC was filled with interesting and wonderful sessions, speakers, demo’s, workshops, and presentations. ISTE did an exceptional job of organizing things and the VSTE (Virginia State Technology Educators) also played a large part in making everything run smoothly.

The conference officially kicked off with an intriguing keynote speech by Malcolm Gladwell and was followed by a ‘Gala’ opening reception on Sunday night, 6/28. Trays of ISTE cupcakes and glasses of champagne were available to all. The exhibit hall was open with many interesting presentations.

It was a great conference; there was so much to choose from, so much to see, thousands of teachers, and great exhibits. I’d love to blog multiple posts about some of the those items as I go through my notes, photos and hands-outs. However, I will be traveling again this summer, camping when possible, to the Smokey Mountains National Park, Jefferson’s Monticello, Luray Caverns, FDR’s Hyde Park for Teaching the Hudson Valley, to visit family in California and on up to the magnificent Mount Shasta.
